New York Lt. Gov. Hochul to speak at Upstate on new state budget April 12
The Upstate community is invited to attend a presentation of the New York State Fiscal Year 2020 Budget by New York Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul Friday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m. in Medical Alumni Auditorium, 1159 Weiskotten Hall. The Lt. Governor’s budget presentation at Upstate is one of several being planned throughout the state. Doors open at 3:15 p.m.

Macfarlane, director of Research Technology and Commercialization in Research Administration, retires after nearly eight years of service. The Upstate community is welcome to attend.

Donate Life’s National Blue and Green Day is April 12

Relay for Life is April 13
Join Team Upstate and the Upstate Chapter of Colleges Against Cancer at Syracuse University’s Relay for Life April 13. The first 50 people to sign up by March 31 will receive a free Team Upstate T-shirt. Relay for Life events raise money for the American Cancer Society to support cancer patients, survivors and their families, and to honor those who have lost their battle with cancer. International Students Association to host 13th annual International Festival April 19
The International Students Association will host the 13th annual International Festivalcelebration Friday, April 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Ninth Floor Auditorium of Weiskotten Hall. The event will showcase diversity at Upstate with a variety of performances from different cultures and food from various cuisines. There will be prizes for best ethnic attire. Leadership Development Program applications due April 19

The Governor’s Office of Employee Relations offers two sessions of the 2019 Leadership Development Program for employees in the Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services Unit. The program is designed for Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services employees, grade 23 and above, who are in supervisory and managerial roles. The Leadership Development Program is designed to provide participants with the key skills to better lead and manage in New York state government. The program includes a half-day orientation, seven full training days, and a half-day for follow-up and graduation. Applications are due April 19; classes begin in June. On My Own Time is now accepting artwork from Upstate employees and retirees. Artwork will be displayed from May 15 through September in the cafeteria at Community Campus, the Health Sciences Library at Downtown Campus, and Upstate Cancer Center. Selected works will be on display at the Everson. Registration for the J. P. Morgan Corporate Challenge has started
Registration is open for the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge, a 3.5 mile run or walk at Onondaga Lake Parkway to be held Tuesday, May 21 at 6:45 p.m.; photos at 6 p.m. Race registration closes May 1 or earlier if the race capacity is met. Participants must be actively employed and paid by Upstate Medical University for a minimum of 25 hours per week (verified by Payroll Status) for at least three months prior to race day, and must be 18 year of age or older. Paper Product Drive for Vera House seeks donated items
Public Health and Preventive Medicine will hold a Paper Product Drive for Vera House now through April 12. Donations sought include: paper plates, bowls, cups, tissues, paper towels, trash bags, toilet paper, napkins, plastic utensils, and storage bags. A collection box is located at 2261 Weiskotten Hall.
