Andrea Viczian, PhD, an assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and a member of the SUNY Eye Institute at Upstate Medical University, discusses her research into creating new pathways for the discovery of improved therapies to treat age-related macular degeneration with members of the area Lions Clubs Nov. 19. The visitors also toured Ophthalmology’s Vision Clinic at 550 Harrison St. The Central New York Lions District 20-Y1 has been a dedicated supporter of the University’s Vision Care and Research Centers, dating back to the start of the Vision 2000 fundraising campaign.
Construction continues at the site of the new Upstate Cancer Center. Expected to open in Fall 2013, the five-story $74 million facility will bring all pediatric and adult outpatient cancer services under one roof.
Rose King of Physical Plant packs toys to deliver to the College of Health Professions for its toy drive. The college’s toy drive was a joint project among the United Way, the Salvation Army and many community partners, including the Old Newsboys and local Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.
