Holiday schedules announced
In observance of the New Year holiday, Upstate units and departments will be on a holiday schedule on Monday, Jan. 2 with staffing for essential services. All eligible employees are entitled to one day as a New Year’s Day holiday, even if an employee works both Sunday and Monday. Contact Patricia Toohey at 464-6352 with questions.
• Dining areas: Deb’s Grill in the C.A.B. and the kiosks at 550 Harrison and at UHCC will be closed Monday, Jan. 2; Betty’s Bistro in Weiskotten Hall will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 4. Café 750 at the Downtown Campus will keep normal hours during the holiday. The cafeteria at the Community Campus will operate under normal operating hours on the holiday, 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Parking: Shuttle lots will be closed Jan. 2. Shuttle lot paid parkers and Community Campus parkers may park in the Garage West on Jan. 2. The bus for the shuttle to and from Community Campus will not be available on Jan. 2. The Parking Offices at both campuses will be closed Jan. 2. Valet service will not be offered Jan. 2. Call the Parking Office with questions, 464-4801 (Downtown Campus); 492-5017 (Community Campus).

• The Volunteer Express Office at Downtown Campus will be closed Jan. 2. For assistance with patient transport, discharges or lab runs, call Centralized Patient Transport at 464-9944.
Central Stores will close Friday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. and reopen Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 8 a.m.

Announcements from The Upstate Foundation
• Friend in Deed funding is available to Upstate employees for projects that enhance the patient experience at Upstate’s Downtown and Community campuses. Friend in Deed is the hospital’s annual fund that is largely supported through the donations of grateful patients and their families, and members of the Upstate family and the community. Guidelines and applications are available at Upstate Foundation or by calling 464-4416. Applications require the approval of a department director and must be submitted to the Foundation Office, CAB 326, by Jan. 13 at 4 p.m.
• Amazon will donate 0.5 percent of the price of eligible AmazonSmile purchases to The Upstate Foundation. anytime one shops on AmazonSmile. Eligible products are marked “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” on their product detail pages. Recurring Subscribe-and-Save purchases and subscription renewals are not currently eligible. • Memorial Mass cards available through the Foundation and the Center for Spiritual Care. When you purchase a Memorial Mass card, notice is sent to the family of the deceased that special prayer intentions are being offered at an Upstate Mass on behalf of their loved one. Contributions benefit the Father Al Bebel Spiritual Care Fund for support of spiritual care needs at Upstate. To purchase a card, call 464-4687 or email chaplain@upstate.edu.

Upstate hosts free childbirth and new family classes
Upstate Best Beginnings Childbirth and New Family classes held at Community Campus and University Health Care Center are now free of charge. A variety of classes are available, including: Prenatal classes: Childbirth, Breastfeeding, Newborn Care, and My New Sibling. Postpartum classes: Baby and Me and Breastfeeding Back To Work. Appointments being accepted for Upstate’s January blood drive
Appointments to donate blood at the Downtown Campus Blood Drive will be accepted Monday, Jan. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second floor of Upstate University Hospital Downtown Campus. Appointments may also be made by contacting Linda Underwood, 464-6755, underwol@upstate.edu. The Blood Drive will be held Thursday, Jan.19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 20 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Café 750. All donors will receive a $5 Dunkin’ Donuts gift card.
