Team Upstate sets schedule of Spring activities, volunteer opportunities

Interested in beginning or increasing participation in volunteer opportunities?

Upstate Medical University’s Team Upstate can help as it works to increase the number of Upstate employees and students who engage in activities that benefit the Central New York community.

Formed in 2003, Team Upstate also promotes public awareness of the university’s contributions to the community. Along the way, Team Upstate has earned numerous awards and other kudos for team participation in community outreach activities.

Below are a few Team Upstate volunteer opportunities for winter and spring 2018:

Tuesday, Feb. 6. Father Daughter Valentine Ball. Art & Home Center, New York State Fairgrounds, 581 State Fair Blvd. Syracuse. To benefit pediatric cancer services at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. For more information, call 315-464-4416

Wednesday, Feb. 7. Black History Month Opening Ceremony. Upstate Medical University will offer informative, insightful and entertaining events throughout February in celebration of the month.

Thursday and Friday, March 1, 2 Upstate Foundation Radiothon for Kids. Live from the lobby of Upstate University Hospital Downtown Campus. Sponsored by iHeart Media Group and the Upstate Foundation. For more information, call 315-464-4416.

Friday, April 13. Mystery, Malt and Merlot. Finger Lakes Ballroom, Marriott Syracuse Downtown, 100 E. Onondaga St., Syracuse. An evening of craft beer and wine tasting, dinner, auction and mystery to solve. Sponsored by The Advocates for Upstate Medical University. Friday, May 4. Strikes Against Stroke. Flamingo Bowl, 7239 Oswego Rd., Liverpool. Bowling event to benefit the Upstate University Hospital Stroke Fund.

Saturday, May 12. Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis. Long Branch Park, 106 Lake Dr., Liverpool. Three-mile run/walk to benefit the CNY Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and support the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital Pulmonary and Cystic Fibrosis Center.
