A JOURNAL EXERCISE. Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital patients and their families gathered in the Family Resource Center to create observation journals. The journals allow the children to interpret their surroundings and document their feelings and thoughts about them. The activity was led by Jillian, a Girls Scouts leader who typically teaches this skill as part of the Girls Scouts' science badge requirement. Patients will use the journals they created to capture their ideas during their stay in Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital and beyond.
ART KITS FOR KIDS. Local Subaru Dealers and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society visited the Upstate Cancer Center with donations from the Subaru Loves to Care Program. They brought 160 cozy blankets for patients undergoing cancer treatment, and an additional 30 art kits for patients at the William J Waters Center for Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders. Blankets are one of the items most requested by our patients of all ages. This is the third consecutive year that Subaru Loves to Care has made this donation to the Upstate Cancer Center.
