Donate Life event is July 15
Donate Life Awareness Night at NBT Bank Stadium, 1 Tex Simone Drive, Syracuse, is Friday, July 15. Gates open at 6 p.m. The Syracuse Chiefs vs. Durham Bulls game begins at 7:05 p.m. with fireworks immediately following the game. The event includes giveaways and special recognition of transplant recipients and organ donor families. Those attending the event can enroll in the NYS Donate Life Organ Eye and Tissue Donor Network. Free tickets to the event are available to the Upstate community, courtesy of the Advocates for Upstate Medical University, at 1110C Downtown Campus, or by contacting Catherine Stephens, stephenc@upstate.edu or Michelle Lonkey, lonkeym@upstate.edu while they last. Donor Awareness Night is a joint effort to increase the NYS Donor Registry provided by The Advocates for Upstate Medical University, Upstate Donor Council, Rome Memorial Hospital, Fingerlakes Donor Recovery Network, Central New York Eye and Tissue Bank and Musculoskeletal Foundation.

Blood drive is July 21 and 22

A yoga class will be offered Wednesday, July 27 from 11:30 to 11:55 a.m. and from noon to 12:25 p.m. in the Solarium of Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. Nursing Grand Rounds at Community is July 26
Joshua Pletka, MD, will present “Venous Thromboembolism in Upper Extremity Surgery” Tuesday, July 26 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the Classroom A&B at Community Campus. The presentation is targeted to all Upstate RNs with the purpose to increase the RN’s knowledge of upper extremity DVT’s in order to improve patient care and outcomes.
