In the early hours of Monday, July 23, laboratory staff celebrated the transition of Upstate’s Community Campus Clinical Laboratory services to Upstate Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Christina Essig holds the New York state laboratory permit surrounded by staff members from the Downtown and Community campuses who were on site to ensure a smooth transition. Upstate's Clinical and Anatomic Pathology laboratories and a new Patient Draw Site in the hospital now serve all inpatients and registered outpatients at the Upstate Community Campus.
Onondaga County Sheriff's Office Lt. Christopher Koeppe and Sgt. Jon Seeber present Sarai, an Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital patient, an 'official' sheriff badge at the second-annual Onondaga County Sheriff's Pizza Party for patients and families in the Performance Center July 25. Patients learned how the Bomb Squad officers use robots to detect and disarm bombs, and learned how to operate the remote-controlled robot on their own. Pizzas were donated by the Pies Guys on Milton Avenue in Syracuse. Dinners like this get patients and families out of their rooms and offer a much-needed break from a long, summertime hospital stay.
It may be July, but we have to ask: Do you wanna build a snowman? A pair of royal visitors—the Snow Queen and her sister—stopped by July 24 to visit with patients, sing songs, play games, hand out crowns and have a dance party. Thanks to two of our favorite princesses for making our kids so happy!
