HONORING GUN VIOLENCE AWARENESS DAY FROM THE ROOFTOP: Upstate's Trauma, Emergency Medicine, Surgical ICU, Burn Center, Pediatric Emergency and Pediatric Trauma services wear orange June 7 in recognition of National Gun Violence Awareness Day. In 2018, Upstate treated 126 people for gunshot wound injuries, including 11 children under the age of 14. So far in 2019, Upstate has treated 42 people for gunshot wounds, including three children. Each day, 100 Americans are killed with guns and firearms are the second leading cause of death for American children and teens.
