Joe Selby MD, MPH, to speak at Dean and Medicine Grand Rounds June 14
Joe Selby, MD, MPH, executive director of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), will speak at Upstate’s Dean and Medicine Chair Grand Rounds Thursday, June 14 at 5 p.m. in 9295 Weiskotten Hall. Selby will discuss the importance of patient and caregiver input in the development of research. Selby will also speak at the FOCUS Forum Friday, June 15 at 8 a.m. at Loretto’s Cunningham Building Auditorium, 700 E. Brighton Ave., Syracuse. The event is free and open to the public. The events are sponsored by Upstate and the Central New York Citizen’s Aging Research Action Network (CNY-CAN). CNY-CAN is a cooperative effort of FOCUS, Upstate Geriatrics, Southwest Community Center, and HealtheConnections, with input from Onondaga County Office for Aging and Health Foundation of Western and Central New York.

Nursing Grand Rounds is June 19
Michele Dwyer, RN, IBCLC, lactation consultant at Upstate Breastfeeding Medicine Program, will present Care of the Breastfeeding Woman, Infant or Child on a Non-OB Unit June 19 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in conference room 12405 A/B on the 12thfloor of Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. The presentation will be streamed live to Classroom A and B at Community Campus and is targeted to Upstate Nurses who wish to increase their knowledge regarding the care of the breastfeeding woman, infant and/or child during hospitalization as well as the resources available through the Upstate Breastfeeding Medicine Program.
