Upstate University Hospital Chief Operating Officer Robert Marzella offers remarks at Mystery, Malt and Merlot, a signature event for Advocates for Upstate Medical University. The event, held April 7 at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown, drew a crowd of 350 and raised more than $50,000 to benefit the new Patient Guest Service Center slated for the Downtown Campus.
More than 170 people, including a handful of stroke survivors, took part in Upstate's annual Strike Against Stroke bowling event at Flamingo Lanes in Liverpool. The event helps raise money for patient support and outreach. Upstate is the region's only officially recognized Comprehensive Stroke Center. Upstate's stroke care will also be recognized Friday, May 12 at the Syracuse Chief's home game at NBT Stadium. First pitch for Strike Out Stroke Night is at 6:35 p.m.
Singer-songwriter—and Upstate University Hospital patient—Melissa Clark performed at the Upstate Cancer Center on April 12. Clark played a variety of folk songs, including “Heart of a Champion,” which she wrote. Clark, a retired postal worker, performs at farmers’ markets, senior residences and restaurants.
