Flu clinics will be held this week at Upstate University Hospital’s Downtown and Community campuses. The schedule is as follows:
—Jacobsen Hall clinics will be held Oct. 11, 18, 25 and November 1, 8, 15, 29 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the sixth-floor conference room of Jacobsen Hall
—550 Harrison clinics will be held Oct. 24 from 1 to 4 p.m.
—UHCC clinic will be held Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 5118
—Sarah Loguen clinic will be held Nov. 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
—The Galleries clinic will be held Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Compassion without Fatigue workshop is Oct. 11
Compassion without Fatigue: Mindfulness, Boundaries, and the Practice of Empathy, a trauma-informed training to build personal resiliency, aimed at protecting against secondary trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout, will be held Oct. 11 at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. This three-hour interactive training course offers more than a dozen tools and practical strategies to build resilience. The program is free to all Upstate staff and students thanks to a grant from The Advocates for Upstate, with additional support from Pediatrics, Pediatric Nursing, and the Child Life Program. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is Oct. 14
Join Team Upstate at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. at SRC Arena at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse. Event-day registration opens at 8:30 a.m. and a Team Upstate photo will be taken at 9:15 a.m. Upstate team members who raise $35 or more ($25 for students) will receive a custom sweetshirt hoodie—a sweatshirt made from T-shirt material. Concept to Commercialization Boot Camp is Oct. 18, 19
The second annual Concept to Commercialization Boot Camp, two distinct two-day workshops, will be held Sept. 13, 14 and Oct. 18, 19 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the third-floor theater at the Central New York Biotech Accelerator, 841 E. Retirement reception for Lori Grabowski is Oct. 23

Senior Medication Safety Fair is Oct. 30
The third annual Senior Medication Safety Fair is Oct. 30 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at HealthLink, 6333 Rt. 298, East Syracuse. Pharmacists will be available to go over medications with participants. Physical therapists will screen for balance and mobility. Unused medications will be taken for safe disposal. Light refreshments will be offered and parking is free. Register online at

NYS and CSEA Partnership for Education and Training offers Skills for Success
The NYS and CSEA Partnership for Education and Training offers CSEA-represented employees with learning opportunities designed to provide employees with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to meet their personal and professional development goals. Scheduled statewide from September through December 2018 are 88 classes in 53 topic areas. As part of the ongoing redesign of Upstate’s website, a new design of the Upstate iPage is available for preview. The page features a mobile-friendly responsive design, easy access to Upstate’s most frequently used applications, a hospital status dashboard, links to some of the most used web pages in the site, and an events feed featuring upcoming and ongoing events. OTD offers Emotional Intelligence classes for employees and managers
Organizational Training and Development (OTD) now offers TalentSmart’s Mastering Emotional Intelligence (EQ) class. Learn what EQ is, your EQ score, and strategies to handle yourself in times of stress and dealing with others skillfully. Supervisors/Managers answer on-line questions about themselves and invite others to anonymously answer those same questions. Non-supervisors and managers answer on-line questions about themselves. The cost for managers and supervisors is $288; $140 for non-supervisory employees. The registration fee will be charged to the participating employee’s department and covers the online assessment, a workbook for the eight-hour class, and a copy of Emotional Intelligence 2.0.
